Eugene enlisted at Plymouth, Michigan for 3 years service at age 20. He was mustered out at Delaney House, D.C. on July 30,1865.
The following is a family narritive He was wounded at Fredricksburg Va. Dec. 1862, and was captured at the Battle of the Wilderness, May 5, 1864. When he enrolled Sept. 15, 1861 he lied about his age and joined at the age of 16. My mother has letters he sent to his parents when held prisoner and on ship off Port Royal S.C.
