William enlisted at Leonidas, Michigan on October 5, 1863 for 3 years of service at the age of 30. He was discharged on a Surgeon Certificate of Disability at Washington, D.C. on Jun 2, 1865. This is a photo of he and his wife, Marilyn Catherine West. He died at St Paul, Arkansas on August 25, 1918 and is buried at Brashears Cemetery in Combs, Arkansas.
