Peter Lennon

Company D, 5th Michigan Infantry

From Clayton, Michigan Peter enlisted at Fort Wayne, Michigan at the age of 22 for 3 years of service on August 8, 1861 and took the muster oath on August 28, 1861. He was wounded in action at Williamsburg, Virginia on May 3, 1862. He re-enlisted on December 15, 1863 as a Sergeant at Brandy Station, Virginia. Promoted to 1st Sergeant before he was captured at Boydon Plank Road, Virginia on October 27, 1864. He was returned to the Regiment on February 22, 1865. He was Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on October 10, 1864, reaching the rank of Captain on May 8, 1865. He mustered out at Jeffersonville, Indiana on July 5, 1865. He died on October 30, 1891 and is buried at Flint, Michigan.
