From Oakland County, Michigan Frank at age 18 enlisted at Flint for 3 years service on November 23, 1861. Participating in all of the movements and actions of the regiment until February 6, 1864 he re-enlisted for the balance of the war. He was wounded at the battle of Jonesboro, Georgia on September 1, 1864. Recovered from his wounds he was discharged at Indianapolis, Indiana on July 24, 1865.
