George Purdy

Company H, 4th Michigan Infantry

George was from Lapeer, Michigan and enlisted at age 18 on February 11, 1863 at Lapeer, Michigan for 9 months service. He was a substitute for Abram Purdy drafted at Marathon, Michigan on February 10, 1863. He reached the regiment at Falmouth, Virginia on March 23, 1863. He was killed in action July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He is buried at the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in the Michigan Plot, Grave A- #18.
